CCSLS Junior Lifesaver of the Year Nominations OPEN

2009/2010 SLSCC Junior Lifesaver of the YearSurf Life Saving Central Coast is seeking nominations for the 2010 Junior Lifesaver of the Year award.

Open to Under 14 agegroup ONLY

The award is a way for Clubs and to recognize their Under 14 member’s achievements in surf lifesaving and the contributions they have made to Surf Life Saving at all levels and in the community.

All under 14 members who believe they could be the next Junior Lifesaver of the Year should apply. The male and female Branch winners will then progress to the State Development Camp and interview process to determine the State winners.

Nominations must be completed with questionnaire and medical information. Resumes will not be considered by the judges, and should not be included with the nomination forms.

Successful applicants will need to be available for an interview at Branch on the 19th of December 2009

Nominees must have completed their SRC to be eligible for the Junior Lifesaver of the Year award and Development Camp.

Application must be received by Debbie Marks or Alan Barrie no later than Sunday the 6th Dec.

The Youth Development Committee will select one female and one male from the applications to represent Soldiers Beach SLS at Branch.

Surf Rescue Certificate & Bronze Course Starts Wednesday

If you are 13 now or turning 13 by mid January you are eligable to begin your SRC.

Also, new under 15's may wish to attend course

BRONZE Medallian also starts same time...if you are 15 or over, or turn fifteen by Mid January this is the course for you.

Rookie Launch POSTPONED Again.....

The Rookie Launch scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed (again) until

SATURDAY 7th November...9.30am

I can only assume it is beacuse the NEW uniform have not arrived at Central Coast Surf Life Saving Headquarters as yet.????

Curtis Flemming - Express Advocate Athlete of the Week

A big Congratulations to Curtis Flemming who was the Central Coast Express Advocate Athlete of the Week this week.

Curtis has achieved some outstanding results recently taking out 1st Place int the U16 Division, Curtis only being 11 years old!

Curtis competes in Fun -runs, Cross Country Club, School events and half marathons such as Bay to Bay and City to Surf. Curtis is a determined and hardworking athlete that Soldiers should be very proud of, watch out for him this season on the sand :)

Great Work Curtis - keep it up!

It is a 3 Round Competition which attracts heaps of Media Coverage and the goal is to get at least 600 Competitors so come along!

The Rookie Launch is now being held on the Saturday 24th October at Westfield Tuggerah. Meet out the front of Hogsbreath Cafe at 9.30am for a 10am start, all new U13 and U14 Rookies are required to attend the Launch.

Young Soldiers ON SHOW

Soldiers fielded six competitors at this years Surf Club relay held at half time of Sundays Mariners game. We fininshed toward the back of the pack although we did have one of the youngest sides entered. Best part, we all had FUN......

This Squad is a Program for Talented Athletes within NSW to focus on launching them into the NSW State team for the 2009-10 Season. There was a tough selection criteria and Jack was one of the lucky few to be selected.

This season Surf life saving are getting new uniforms as we have new sponsors.

The uniforms will be late, and therefore we will not have them for the Rookie Launch so we have been told for all Rookies who can attend to just where their old uniforms on the day.

If you are a new Rookie or just dont have a uniform please meet me in the Surfclub on Saturday 10th at 9am and ill give you a uniform to wear until our new ones arrive.

If you have your SRC or are currently training for your SRC you can come along, and all older age groups are welcome. Its fun and interactive for all over 13's and you will make heaps of new friends in the Senior ranks!

Alex Fitch - From Snow to Surf

Congratulations Alex Fitch, after spending the Winter in Perisher competing and training as her secret identity - Champion Snowboarder!

Alex has had some outstanding results over the Winter which has given her the oppurtunity of a lifetime. She has been selected in the Australian Snowboard Development Squad to compete in Colorado, America in Jan/Feb 2010.

Watch out for Alex as shes back for the Surfclub season.

'Club Rookie' Event

'Club Rookie' is a first time Event for all Rookies on the Central Coast.

It will be held at Soldiers Beach on Friday the 4th of December, commencing at 7pm till 11pm. The night will include Food and Drinks, whilst partying to the latest music with all your fellow Rookies from all 15 Central Coast Clubs.

For a short time we will have a guest speaker and some interactive games, giving you the chance to score some great prizes! 'Club Rookie' is all about the Rookies, it is something which we hope to make an annual event, having one at the beggining and the end of each season.

So if you haven't already - make sure you check out the "Club Rookie" information on our main website.
